About University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire was established in 1834 and has a history of over 180 years. It is the result of the merger of several universities. The original name of the university was the Cheltenham Mechanics' Institute. By 1846, it evolved into Cheltenham Training College. In 1980, the university began offering Bachelor's degrees in Arts, and its name changed to Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education. In 2001, it officially became the University of Gloucestershire as it is known today. With almost two centuries of development, Gloucestershire has become one of the oldest universities in the UK, continuously striving to be among the best educational institutions not only in the UK but also globally.

The University of Gloucestershire was awarded the Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2017). TEF evaluates the quality of teaching, learning environment, and employment prospects for graduates.
